The good news: He’s got this. The bad: You aren’t letting Him:(

You know it’s true, I know it’s true. It’s the worst kept secret in the universe. It’s the biggest flaming bag of poop on our front porch that we’ve ever seen. The problem is…it wasn’t the kids down the street pulling a prank you on, ringing your doorbell and running. It wasn’t anyone, except for you.

You and I are in denial daily. We talk a big game. We tell God we want Him to lead us. We ask Him even…”Lord, be with me today, guide me, I give it all to You”. or how about this “Lord, You know what’s best for me…I hand over my day, my decisions, my reactions, my leading…to You. You know what’s best for me, I give you control, Lord”.

You know the prayer. It sounds amazing. I’ve even preached it in front of 10,000 people before, so you know I really mean it when I say it. ha

God hears that prayer, you know. The bible says our prayers are like smoke, or incense offered up to heaven. That sounds really nice doesn’t it? 90% of the time we pray this prayer though…it smells like something else.

That’s when it happens…we jump out of the bushes onto God’s front porch, light the bag and take off running.

Do we honestly give Him control of our day, our lives, our decisions, our frustrations, our situations, our emotions? What would we look like if we TRULY handed these over to God? I know I’d look a lot different, that’s for sure. It’s really hard to do. It’s harder than you could ever imagine.

Why? Because we know in our hearts that we can’t do as good as God can…but our stupid tiny little brains tell us we should at least try. Whoops.

When it comes to this topic, here are the most important, yet simple verses in all the Bible. If we could live by these 3 verses, almost every problem in our lives would either clear up completely or get to the point where it was manageable and we were content with it. Check it out:

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Psalm 3:5-7

That’s it.

So…do this with me…let Jesus tell you which path to take today. Right now. Stop what you’re doing, unless you’re driving…and if that’s the case you have massive issues.

Stop right now and ask Him. Remember, when you ask Him to guide you to the right path…you may have to turn from a sin that feels so good…has a grip on you. Get over that and get going.
