So Thankful

This is an email I sent to our whole staff today. I felt I should share it because I know many of you feel the same. I don’t share this sort of thing often, but I encourage you to thank a volunteer or staff member the next time you see them…..they are truly incredible.

I want to share a little something. As you know, I’ve logged more time on stage, in the mix of this crazy thing that is a weekend at the Creek…in the last 15 years than anyone on staff. It’s been YEARS since I’ve just shown up at a campus, not knowing what songs or videos they’re doing…and enjoyed the service. YEARS.
I showed up at the WH campus today. I intentionally didn’t get involved in ANY videos this week…I couldn’t remember what songs we had programmed or who was singing what. I went into todays service completely blind. This is literally the FIRST time I’ve done this in as long as I can remember.
That being said, I need to tell you that I was floored. As you can imagine, that’s tough for me to do. To not be distracted by a bad transitions or wonder why the lights weren’t in sync or the sound was whack. I just showed up and watched, worshiped and actually….cried. The service was amazing, Cory, Brandon, Tallie and the band knocked it out of the park. I saw a killer video of lifechange featuring many of my friends from the Toledo Campus. I saw a Sanctus song with a great video of our church doing church. I saw Mike and his staff running on all cylinders.
I just can’t tell you what it meant for me to sit back and see God working. See what God is doing through Lee, Hooty and Ed and the rest of the staff. To see what incredible and dedicated volunteers we have from Jeff Harris to the guys freezing in the parking lot smiling as I came in. I had nothing to do with any of it. I just got to enjoy it, park in a normal space, get greeted by the ridiculous army of hand shakers, get coffee and be normal. I was choked up. I was thankful. God did something today…He wanted me there to experience that. To remind me it has NOTHING to do with me and EVERYTHING to do with Him.
Lastly, thanks to all of you, I truly couldn’t imagine working with a better group of people who have dedicated their lives to what God is doing here in this city, through goofy people like us. It’s nice to get blown away by God once in a while:)) I encourage you to do it soon! Love working with you guys,
